from ALLISON
Greetings,
The most difficult part of campaigning has been talking about myself. I would much rather talk about my two incredible children, my supportive family, the inspiring mentors who have guided me throughout my professional and personal growth, or my wide circle of amazing friends, some of whom I have known for a majority of my life.
Despite my initial discomfort, however, I’ve grown to enjoy discussing my many years of work in public service, and, specifically, my dedication to the area of family law. When you love the work you do, speaking about it with sincerity and enthusiasm comes easily. The interest from others about the important role of the Family Court, and their genuine concern for ensuring there are qualified, compassionate judges on the bench, has inspired me to keep sharing the reasons I am seeking to be elected a Family Court Judge.
I possess a deep understanding about the need for Family Court judges to be both knowledgeable about family law and compassionate about the situations which bring litigants to the Family Court. I firmly believe that my unique journey personally and professionally has led me to this very moment. I used to wonder whether my career in family law prepared me to overcome personal challenges I would face, or whether the personal challenges I have faced prepared me to excel in a career in family law. I have concluded, it is a bit of both.
My decision to run for Family Court Judge was not a last minute one, nor was it an opportunity that simply presented itself. This endeavor has been the product of years of determination, education, practice, dedication, perseverance, and even some lived experience. For the last fifteen years, I have worked diligently to learn as much as possible about the different areas of family law. From trial work in complex child neglect and abuse cases to working as a Court Attorney to a Family Court Judge assisting on a variety of family court matters, I have gained vast exposure to the types of cases that come before the Family Court. I fully understand the sensitive, emotional nature of Family Court proceedings as well as the necessity for good judicial temperament.
Summarizing my entire life in a resume, a palm card, or even this letter is challenging. There are a multitude of experiences and interactions which have shaped who I am today. While all of the above is just a snapshot, it is reflective of the bigger commitment I have to public service, and, more specifically, the genuine passion I have for the work of the Family Court. I look forward to meeting you during my campaign and securing your vote for Westchester County Family Court Judge in the 2024 election.
Best,
Allison
